Empathic Times 4/2021: Among Giraffes

With ‘Unter Giraffen’, Empathische Zeit celebrates eight years. It all began in November 2014 at the first German-language NVC congress at Forum Demokratie in Düsseldorf. There was also a premiere there on 15 and 16 November: the first NVC magazine for sale, 500 copies of 16 pages each, priced at two euros. That beginning has since grown into an 80-page magazine.

This time, the main theme explores how living together changes when Nonviolent Communication takes root: at school, in clubs and associations, and in the family. Numerous contributors share their experiences, with a particularly striking account from the team at Fachverband Gewaltfreie Kommunikation e.V., which shows how even difficult decisions can be made together.

There is also encouragement from Gerhard Rothhaupt to engage in dialogue with people who think differently, a review of activities surrounding NVC Day, a film project featuring interviews about empathy, the sixth part of the series ‘Die schönsten Irrtümer über die GFK’ with a downloadable worksheet, the history of certification from its beginnings to the present day, praise for ‘mechanical NVC’, which can save many an evening, and the CNVC's environmental analysis examining who actually has access.
