This handout comes from the Hamburg Institute for Non-Violent Communication (HIGFK.de) and is specifically designed for use in practice groups: 32 pages in a handy DIN A5 format that you can open and use straight away.
Inside, you’ll find the four-step approach, along with lists of feelings and needs organised by group, and an overview of terms that are often confused with words describing feelings. It also includes practical guidance on showing empathy and practising self-empathy, as well as book recommendations and suggestions on how to approach conflict discussions.
It was written by Simran K. Wester, the director of the institute and one of the first German-speaking trainers to be certified by the CNVC. You’ll notice her many years of experience as you read: she gets straight to the heart of Non-Violent Communication without any unnecessary words.
