GFK Needs Navigator (2018)

In conflict situations, it is crucial to understand both yourself and the other person in order to restore closeness to the relationship. If you are not clear yourself about which need you are currently trying to fulfil, you cannot convey this to the other person either, and the conversation will quickly go round in circles.

The NVC Needs Navigator, also known as the Needs Finder, is designed to address precisely this. A glance at the laminated A4 card from Future Pace Media is all it takes to realise what’s on your mind right now: what’s important to you, what’s driving you, what you’re seeking to fulfil, and what you need. This allows you to look beyond the ‘stories’ and recognise the needs behind them – both for yourself and for the person you’re talking to – and thus show empathy.

Spanning just two pages, the card presents 16 key needs for quick reference. It was developed with the aim of being practical for everyday use: featuring colloquial examples and meaningful illustrations and infographics. This ensures the content remains compact, clear and visually appealing – a mirror, compass and map all in one.
