This art postcard is number 10 in Christiane Lesch’s series and bears the phrase: “Empathy means being present, often without words, and walking in someone else’s shoes.” It’s a thought you can display, give as a gift, or take with you as a little inspiration for a workshop or practice evening.

Christiane Lesch, born in 1940, studied graphic design in the late 1950s and is known as a children’s book illustrator. Alongside commissioned work, she paints freely, using colour etchings and watercolours. The postcard is the result of her collaboration with NVC trainer Dr Gitta Zimmermann. Gitta gave her a list of quotes relating to the principles of NVC, and Christiane was allowed to choose which ones to illustrate: “These quotes struck a chord with me straight away.” It was important to both of them that the images were child-friendly and that their vibrant colours would captivate viewers of all ages. To achieve this, Christiane made lots of sketches, discussed them with Gitta and then left them to rest for a while, just as yeast dough needs to rise.

You can buy the card individually, in a discounted bundle containing all 10 designs, or as a pack of 10 in business-card format – to give as gifts or to use as inspiration for workshops and practice sessions. We also stock the matching perpetual NVC calendar and the children’s book “Lups and Spotty”.
