Past hurts and painful experiences can continue to affect us in the present. They influence how we see ourselves, how we react to others and how we shape our relationships. In *The Little Workbook – Healing Emotional Wounds*, Colette Portelance invites you to explore these traces and develop a more mindful way of dealing with your own pain.
Step by step, the workbook guides you in recognising emotional wounds, becoming aware of their impact on your daily life, and gaining a better understanding of recurring patterns of emotion and behaviour. It focuses on self-reflection and self-determination, but also on forgiveness, healthy boundaries and building resilience. Rather than remaining stuck in a state of powerlessness and blame, you’ll discover your own scope for action and learn to take a clearer stand against disparaging behaviour.
Explanatory texts are interspersed with questions for self-reflection, short quizzes and practical exercises. Among other things, you’ll be encouraged to write, draw and visualise, and you’ll be given space to record your own thoughts and experiences. Humorous illustrations lighten the mood when dealing with this serious topic. The individual stages build on one another, leading from recognising and accepting the emotional wounds to new perspectives and ways of dealing with them.
This compact workbook serves as an accessible starting point for people who wish to explore their inner wounds, their reactions and their relationships in greater depth. However, in cases of severe traumatic experiences or persistent mental health issues, it cannot and should not replace professional support.
Colette Portelance is an educationalist and therapist. For decades, she has been supporting people in overcoming psychological and interpersonal problems. She is the author of numerous books on letting go, inner healing and parenting. The workbook has 64 pages and was translated from French by Claudia Seele-Nyima. It is published by Trinity Verlag.
