Empathische Zeit 2/2020 is devoted to a subject that concerns many people in the NVC community: Nonviolent Communication and other tools. Across 100 pages, we ask whether you really can and want to solve every problem with NVC, or whether it is useful to have other tools in your portfolio as well. The hammer and nails on the cover recall the saying, ‘If the only tool you have is a hammer, you see every problem as a nail’, long attributed to Paul Watzlawick. There is now growing evidence that Abraham Maslow actually coined it in the 1960s.
The magazine also includes a review of Markus Fischer's book ‘Die neue Gewaltfreie Kommunikation’, an article about dealing with shame and an overview of various video-conferencing providers. There is also news from the NVC network and a few small inserts intended to make everyday life easier or simply bring you joy.
In this issue, we also say goodbye to Rita Geimer-Schererz. And the current events of those days receive extensive coverage in the magazine, though probably not in the way you expect. Let yourself be surprised.
Contributors to this issue include Markus Castro, Lorna Ritchie, Marc Wagemann, Dr Michael Pflaum and Gabriel Birk.
