“Be absolutely clear about the world in which you want to live. And then start living that way.” This quote by Marshall Rosenberg appears on the second card in our art postcard series, painted by Christiane Lesch.
Christiane Lesch, born in 1940, studied graphic design in the late 1950s. She is a mother of three and a renowned children’s book illustrator. Alongside commissioned work, she devotes herself to painting for her own pleasure, including colour etchings and watercolours.
The series arose from a collaboration with her friend, NVC trainer Dr Gitta Zimmermann: she gave her a list of quotes relating to the principles of Non-Violent Communication (NVC) and left her free to choose which ones she wanted to illustrate. Christiane Lesch explains that these sayings struck a chord with her immediately. From numerous sketches and their discussions, the pair created images designed to be child-friendly, which captivate viewers of all ages with their vibrant colours.
