With *Leading Seminars Authentically*, Liv Larsson has written the book she would have liked to have had at the start of her own career as a trainer: a combination of Non-Violent Communication and an understanding of how group processes work. Across 216 pages, she shares her experiences from many years of running workshops, offering practical suggestions for anyone who leads NVC workshops or other groups.
Larsson continues to see herself as a learner, and it is precisely this openness that she passes on to you, the reader. For her, it’s not about putting on a perfect show, but about being authentic and living out what you teach. The book takes you through topics such as NVC-style presentation skills, myths surrounding speaking in front of a group, inner preparation, the question of seminar planning, dealing with challenges as opportunities for growth, role-plays involving wolves and giraffes, and leading a group based on needs.
Liv Larsson sums it up herself as follows: “I don’t think you need to have fully mastered a subject to teach it or share it with others. More important than the knowledge itself is the desire to share it with others. And at the same time, you need to be aware of your own gaps in knowledge, and that you can fill them by learning together with the group.”
