Tabledance is a game set from Akademie Blickwinkel, developed by Ingrid Holler and Vera Heim for anyone who wants not merely to talk about clarifying conversations, but to practise them in earnest. On a game board, you move step by step through a conversation aimed at resolving a conflict, accompanied by a colourful set of cards. This preserves the structure of NVC without making it feel dry.
You can begin on your own and enter the conversation through self-empathy, or start with another person straight away and have a genuine clarifying conversation. The game boards are clearly structured around the steps of NVC, yet remain light enough that it does not feel like a practice lesson.
The set comes in a sealable transparent pouch and contains two playing pieces, three laminated game boards, two for NVC dialogue and one for self-empathy, as well as five cardboard floor cards covering observation, feeling, need, request and ‘irritation/anger/rage’. It also includes cards providing overviews of self-empathy; the four steps for self and other, including a checkpoint; feelings and needs; explanations of NVC dialogue and self-empathy; and guidance on clear requests and appreciation.
